Review the key ideas and check understanding before moving ahead.

📈

A library that keeps growing

New missions and challenges added progressively as the Middle tier grows.

💬

Discussion board

Ask a question when you're stuck, and read what other students are asking too.

🎁

Free resources

The learning loop

One mission at a time.

01

Discover

Make a guess before you're told anything. Nothing is marked right or wrong yet.

02

Learn

See the idea in plain words: short definitions and the rules behind them.

03

Practice

A few quick questions, each with a clear explanation of why.

04

Error hunt

Spot the slip: find what's wrong in a student's working.

05

Challenge

No options this time. Work out the answer and type it in, with a hint if you get stuck.

06

Wrap up

A short mission report to close the case.

Why start with the puzzle, not the formula

Discovery comes first here — always.

Every mission is built the same way: notice a pattern, test it, try to break it, and only then name it. By the time a formula shows up, it isn't new information — it's just a name for something already worked out by hand. That's the whole idea behind Patterns and Proofs, and it's exactly how this membership works too.

Smita, founder of Patterns and Proofs

About Smita

I'm Smita — I taught for about eight years at a well-known US-based competition math platform before starting Patterns and Proofs. My background is in mechanical and aeronautical engineering, which is probably why I can't teach a formula without first taking it apart to see how it works.

The membership

One guided path for Classes 8–10.

Missions that move from a concept through practice to a real challenge — matched to what's already being taught in school.

Questions

Before you join

How is this different from other online courses?

Most online math resources hand you the formula first, then hope enough practice questions make it stick. Everything here works the other way round — notice the pattern, test it, try to break it, and only then does a name or formula show up. It's built to be done, not watched.

Do I need to take the diagnostic first?

No — it's a free, optional way to see where your child stands before joining. You're welcome to join directly if you'd rather skip it.

When will Junior and Senior be available?

Soon. Join Middle now, and I'll email you the moment Junior (Classes 5–7) or Senior (Classes 11–12) is ready — no need to wait or check back.

Is this a subscription?

No. The annual membership is a single payment for 12 months of access, so there is nothing to cancel and no automatic renewal.

What if it isn't right for my child?

You can ask for a full refund within 7 days of payment, once you've tried at least one activity and as long as you haven't gone beyond the first three activities. Email us at smitas@patternsandproofs.com with your name and the email you signed up with. Refunds go back to your original payment method, in the currency you paid in, within 7 working days. After that, the annual fee is non-refundable.

Will this help with school exams, or is it just for fun?

Both, just not in that order. The missions build the same underlying understanding that shows up in exam questions — they're just not dressed up as exam prep. Most parents notice it in how their child approaches a new problem at school, not just in a mark.
