Patterns and Proofs — Effective date: July 2026
Patterns and Proofs is operated by First Principles Education, Bhubaneswar, Odisha (Udyam Registration: UDYAM-OD-19-0169445). This policy explains what personal data we collect through patternsandproofs.in and patternsandproofs.com, our related courses, payments, and newsletter tools, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at sm****@***************fs.in or sm****@***************fs.com.
1. Who This Policy Covers
This policy applies to:
- Visitors to patternsandproofs.in and patternsandproofs.com
- Parents/guardians and students enrolling in our online courses
- Subscribers to our free newsletter series
- Anyone who contacts us by email or through our website
Because our course is designed for Class 7-12 students (typically around age 11-18), enrollment and payment are always completed by a parent or guardian, not the student directly. Section 6 below explains how we handle student data specifically.
2. What Information We Collect
Information you give us directly:
- Name and email address (newsletter signup, contact, or course enrollment)
- Student’s name and grade/class (course enrollment only)
- Payment details necessary to process your course fee — collected and processed directly by Razorpay; we do not see or store your card, UPI, or bank details ourselves
- Any information you include when you email us (e.g., a refund request or support query)
Information collected automatically:
- Basic website usage data (pages visited, browser type, general location at a country/city level) via standard WordPress/Hostinger server logs
- Course activity and completion data within ThriveCart Learn, so we can track a student’s progress through the chapters
We do not collect any sensitive personal data (health information, government ID numbers, biometric data, etc.) and we ask that you don’t include this in any message to us.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Deliver the course you’ve enrolled in, including granting access, tracking chapter progress, and unlocking installment-based content
- Process payments (handled directly by Razorpay under their own privacy and security practices)
- Send you newsletter emails, if you’ve subscribed, and course-related updates if you’re enrolled
- Respond to questions, support requests, and refund requests
- Understand, in a general way, how visitors use our website, so we can improve it
We do not sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not use it for targeted or third-party advertising.
4. Marketing Emails and Consent
If you subscribe to our newsletter or opt in on our website, we’ll send you occasional emails — new videos, newsletter issues, and updates about our courses. We will not share your email address with anyone else for their own marketing purposes.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email, or by emailing us directly. Unsubscribing from marketing emails won’t affect course-related emails if you’re an enrolled student.
5. Cookies
Like most websites, patternsandproofs.in and patternsandproofs.com use cookies — small files stored in your browser. We use cookies for:
- Essential site functionality — basic operation of the WordPress site and Hostinger hosting
- Payment processing — Razorpay sets its own cookies during checkout to securely process your payment
- Course platform — ThriveCart Learn sets cookies to keep you logged in and track your course progress
- Newsletter signup — MailerLite may set a cookie if you interact with an embedded signup form or link
We do not use cookies for third-party advertising or cross-site tracking. If you’d like to avoid cookies entirely, you can adjust your browser settings to block them, though this may affect your ability to log in to the course platform or complete a payment.
6. Embedded Content from Other Websites
Some pages on our site may include embedded content — for example, a YouTube video from our Beyond the Blackboard channel, a link to a Google Drive file, or a ThriveCart activity preview.
Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if you had visited that website directly. These third-party sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content — including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website (for example, YouTube/Google).
We don’t control how these third-party services handle your data. We’d recommend checking their own privacy policies if you have concerns — for example, Google’s privacy policy covers YouTube embeds.
7. Who We Share Information With
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Patterns and Proofs. Each only receives the information it needs to do its job:
| Service | Purpose | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Razorpay | Payment processing | Payment and billing details (we never see your card/bank details) |
| ThriveCart Learn | Course delivery and progress tracking | Student name, email, course activity data |
| MailerLite | Newsletter and email communication | Email address, name (if provided) |
| Zoho Mail | Business email | Emails you send us directly |
| Hostinger | Website hosting | Standard website visit logs |
We do not permit these providers to use your data for their own purposes beyond what’s needed to provide their service to us.
Where your data is sent:
Some of these providers — including ThriveCart, MailerLite, and Razorpay’s underlying infrastructure — may process or store data on servers located outside India. Where this happens, the provider is responsible for maintaining data protection standards at least equivalent to what’s required under Indian law, under their own terms of service and privacy policy. We choose providers with established security and privacy practices, and we do not transfer your data ourselves to any additional third party beyond those listed above.
8. Student Data and Parental Consent
Our course is intended for Class 7-12 students, most of whom are minors. Because of this:
- Enrollment is always completed by a parent or guardian, who provides consent on the student’s behalf when completing payment and agreeing to our Terms and Conditions.
- We collect only what’s needed to deliver the course: the student’s name, class, email/login access, and their progress through course activities.
- We do not knowingly collect data directly from a student without a parent or guardian having completed enrollment first.
- A parent or guardian can request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child’s data at any time by emailing us.
9. Data Retention
We keep personal data for as long as it’s needed for the purpose it was collected:
- Enrolled student data is retained for the duration of course access and a reasonable period afterward, in case of support or refund queries, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
- Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
- Payment records are retained as required by Indian tax and accounting regulations, independent of course access.
10. Your Rights
You (or, for a minor student, their parent/guardian) can ask us to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or outdated information
- Delete your data, subject to any legal or accounting retention requirements
- Withdraw consent for marketing emails at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email sm****@***************fs.in or sm****@**************of.com with your request. We’ll respond within a reasonable time, and in any case no later than 30 days.
11. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, including relying on the security practices of our service providers (Razorpay, ThriveCart, Zoho, Hostinger, MailerLite), each of whom maintains their own security standards. No online system is 100% secure, but we do not store payment information ourselves, which limits our exposure to that particular risk.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our tools or practices change. The effective date at the top will always reflect the most recent version. If changes are significant, we’ll notify enrolled students and newsletter subscribers by email.
13. Governing Law and Grievances
This policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, where applicable. If you have a concern about how your data has been handled that we haven’t resolved to your satisfaction, you may contact:
- Smita Suvadarsini (Grievance Contact)
